Thanksgiving Break: The Most Delicious Time of the Year
As we strut confidently into the holiday season, it’s time to talk turkey—Thanksgiving turkey, to be exact. Students at the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM), listen up! Thanksgiving break kicks off on Wednesday, November 27 at 12:00 p.m. and you know what that means: freedom from lectures, assignments, and the horror of waking up for that 8 a.m. class.
What’s Cooking at ULM?
In case you’ve been living under a rock, the ULM campus is buzzing with excitement as we approach this much-needed break. Classes will be on pause from November 27 through November 29, so mark your calendars, set your reminders, and maybe even buy a new pair of stretchy pants because we all know you’re going to need them.
Feasting and Fasting: The Campus Center Dining Hall
We all know the Campus Center Dining Hall can whip up some mean grub, but the real question is: will they be serving enough mashed potatoes to satisfy the entire student body? Expect some festive meals, but remember to pace yourself—no one wants to be the one who takes down the entire pumpkin pie.
Health First: Hammond Health Center
If you’ve been burning the midnight oil and living on ramen noodles, it’s time to hit up the Hammond Health Center before you dive headfirst into the holiday feast. Don’t let that sweet potato casserole be the end of your health journey. Get checked out, grab some vitamins, and maybe leave the leftovers alone for a day or two.
Countdown to Turkey Day
The lead-up to Thanksgiving is basically a countdown to the glorious feast. While ULM students will be savoring their time off, let’s not forget the spirit of the season. It’s not just about stuffing yourself with turkey and cranberry sauce; it’s about giving thanks. So, shout out to your professors, your pals, and that one person in your dorm who always shares their snacks.
Closure Dates and Important Reminders
Before you go off gallivanting and stuffing your face with all sorts of holiday goodies, remember that ULM will be closed for Thanksgiving break. Classes will resume on Monday, December 2. So, enjoy your time with family and friends but don’t forget that you have a life to get back to!
Let the Good Times Roll
As you prep for the holiday, don’t just focus on the food. Think about the memories you’re about to create. Whether you’re hitting the road to visit family or staying on campus for a Friendsgiving extravaganza, make sure to soak it all in. Take a moment to appreciate everything, from the awkward family gatherings to the ridiculous amount of leftovers.
